What is Oklahoma Certified Beef?

The Oklahoma Certified Beef Act defined Oklahoma certified beef as beef that is bred, born, raised and processed exclusively within the state of Oklahoma.

By choosing beef that is certified Oklahoman, you can be certain your food dollar stays closer to home and benefits the rancher that produced your steak, hamburger, or other delicious Oklahoma beef item.

What is OCBA?

The Oklahoma Certified Beef Association was created to unify Oklahoma's certified beef ranchers. Through the program, OCBA members gain marketing and networking resources, a verified affidavit record system and a unified OCBA label.

Ranchers are not required to join OCBA to market their products as Oklahoma certified; however, the OCBA program provides support and benefits to ranchers who join.

How is OCBA beef verified?

As defined by the Oklahoma Legislature, Oklahoma Certified Beef is beef that is bred, born, raised and processed exclusively within the state of Oklahoma. To participate in the Oklahoma Certified Beef Association program, ranchers verify their cattle and beef products through an affidavit system.

Ranchers testify that their cattle meet requirements and a knowledgeable third-party verifier signs off for each stage. Third-party verifiers, such as veterinarians, processors, lenders, etc., must be familiar with the OCBA ranch in question and can sign off for one or more stages of production. Finally, the affidavit is notarized by a public notary. The OCBA headquarters maintains all affidavits on file should a question of certification arise.
